Class A Drug Trial

Mohammed Zaheer (38) of Rotherham was today found not guilty at Bradford Crown Court of conspiracy to supply a controlled drug of class A, "namely Heroin". His advocate, Mr Nigel Edwards, asked the Court for associated restraining orders to be lifted. In the normal course of events relevant paper work might take a few weeks. Mr Kennedy urged the time frame be reduced.

The trial judge was his honour Judge Roger Thomas, QC, the recorder of Bradford.

Other defendants in the case, which began on Monday, and who pleaded guilty this week are today beginning prison sentences, while one is on remand pending later sentencing. Given the guilty pleas accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service the jury heard no evidence.

Judge Thomas commended police officers and telephone analysts for their work.
